Celebrating European Literature: Letras Ausentes, Trans-European Journeys & Creative Europe
Letras Ausentes is proud to participate in Trans-European Journeys, a remarkable three-year initiative supported by the European Union through the Creative Europe programme. This project brings together publishers and cultural organisations from Sweden, Portugal, Greece, the Czech Republic, and Armenia, united by a shared ambition to broaden literary exchange across borders. Over the course of the project, a total of 25 books will be translated, published, distributed, and promoted, giving new voice and visibility to diverse European authors and stories.
As part of this inspiring collaboration, Letras Ausentes is delighted to be translating several Portuguese works for new audiences around the world. These include O Ioga dos Poetas by Iolanda Serapicos, which is being translated from Portuguese to Vietnamese; Retalhos Lusitanos by Martim Castro de Noronha, from Portuguese to Chinese; As Gargalhadas ao Sol em Som Ritmado by Dalila Torgal, from Portuguese to Korean; and both A Leveza Do Olhar by Agostinho Adrego Pessanha and Viver a Alma Lusa by Martim Castro de Noronha, which are being translated from Portuguese to Greek. Through these translations, we hope to build bridges between cultures and to share the richness of Portuguese literature with the Greek, Korean, Chinese, and Vietnamese communities.
Led by Region Jönköpings län in Sweden and supported by the Creative Europe programme, Trans-European Journeys exemplifies the impact of collaboration in celebrating and sharing Europe’s literary heritage. We invite you to stay tuned for updates on the books, events, and opportunities that will arise from this unique partnership.
